General Requirements of Music Ministers

Music ministers carry out a very specialised task in the liturgy at St. Patrick’s.  This therefore, requires that music ministers have the following skills:

  1. Voice – a pure voice with flexible range suitable for leading the assembly or choral blending. (Not overly operatic – ie ability to control the use of vibrato)
  2. Sight reading ability - basic reading skills for Parish Choir; Advanced reading skills for Schola and cantors.
  3. Excellent presentation – all music ministers must present themselves well.  Tidy hair & dress; / disposition – welcoming & polite / deportment.
  4. Commitment & Dedication -  all music ministers are expected to be well prepared (including practising at home!),  punctual - turning up in plenty of time, and present for scheduled engagements.   If absence of leave is required,  reasonable notice must be given.
