Palm Sunday, March 24

  • Saturday Vigil Mass at 6pm.
  • Sunday Masses at 8am, 9.30am, 11am Solemn Mass with Cathedral Choir
  • 6 :00 pm : Join Bishop Anthony Fisher OP and the young people of the Diocese for the Procession with Palms and Youth Mass . Procession with Palms at 5.15pm from Parramatta Town Hall to St Patrick’s Cathedral. BBQ and Youth gathering to follow when the WYD Rio raffle will be drawn.

Fifth Sunday of Lent

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Habemus Papam! We welcome the news that we have a new Pope, Francis I, who hails from the Southern Hemisphere! A man of humility with a great sense of social justice, his faithfulness to Jesus Christ and the Gospel is well known. He will bring something new to the role of Bishop of Rome and Universal Pastor of the Church. We pray for him as he begins this important ministry of service to the Church.

Fourth Sunday of Lent

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

As we move now into the second half of Lent, we are invited by the Lord to “return to the Father”. Let’s reflect on Luke 15 in this coming week, in particular looking at the characters in the story of the Prodigal Son, realizing that we are at times both the younger and the older son. The Father’s compassionate love is all-encompassing. However, we must respond to God’s grace and make the first steps towards the Lord. As this fourth week of Lent unfolds, let’s ask our loving God to help us “return” to true faith and faith-practice in these final weeks of preparation for Easter joy.

Third Sunday of Lent

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ

It is never popular to talk about sinfulness today.

Why? Well, if we acknowledge that we have ‘missed the mark’; that we have committed sin; that we have said “no” to God and offended our neighbour – then we are admitting that we need to change. And human beings are never comfortable with change.
