Formed in 1995, the Hospitality Group at St Patrick’s Cathedral is a ministry rooted in offering warm, genuine welcome to parishioners and visitors alike.
Guided by the spirit of St Benedict— “Let all guests who arrive be received as Christ” (Rule of St Benedict)— the group has faithfully served the community for nearly three decades, creating a place of fellowship and connection after Sunday Masses.
Operating out of the Cloister Café, the Hospitality Group serves morning tea following the 9:30am and 11:00am Masses every Sunday. Members are rostered monthly and also support special parish and diocesan events. Their service is more than offering food and drink—it is about building community, offering kindness, and extending the love of Christ to all who visit.
The Hospitality Group is proudly multicultural, reflecting the universal nature of the Church, with members from over 20 different countries coming together to serve as one in the Lord.
New volunteers are always welcome, and recruitment often happens through personal invitations during morning tea or when new parishioners express interest in getting involved. Thanks to the generosity of parishioners, the Cloister Café is largely self-sustaining, with many contributing supplies, home-baked treats, and donations.
If you would like to join this joyful ministry of welcome and service, please speak to a member of the Hospitality Group after Sunday Mass or contact the parish office for more information.
